Tour Overview
Meet your professional local guide and driver at your Innsbruck hotel and hop on board of your luxury minivan. After about a 2 hour drive to Salzburg, start your Salzburg city sightseeing with a visit to the Mirabellgardens, also used
for many scenes during ‘Do-Re-Mi’ in the world-famous movie Sound of Music. Many of the Do-Re-Mi scenes were filmed here.
Continue with a tour through the old town of Salzburg, passing Mozart’s residence, Mozart’s birthplace, the Salzburg Cathedral, the festival houses, St. Peter’s Church, Franciscan Church. The top highlight in the old town is a stop at
Salzburg’s best viewpoint. Your Local Private Guide will point out all the must-visit spots from there.
The rococo palace Leopoldskron is located a little south of the city center, encircled by an artificial lake.
When the film Sound of Music was shot in Salzburg in 1964, 10 outdoor shots depicting the von Trapp Family residence were shot here.
Hangar 7, a Salzburg Airport landmark, houses Red Bull’s iconic Flying Bulls aircraft fleet as well as a collection of Formula 1 race vehicles. Hangar-7 can potentially be used for art displays. On short notice, Hangar-7 may be closed
to the public; alternatively, you can visit any other Salzburg destination of your choosing.
Hellbrunn Palace with its trick fountains is the next attraction.
The prince archbishops used it as a place of celebration, pleasure and recreation. Hellbrunn served the bishops as a vacation domicile with a large garden and the trick fountains. The construction of pleasure palaces was highly fashionable
in the early 17th century.
Local Guides of Hellbrunn will lead you through the famous trick fountains. Before heading back to the old town of Salzburg enjoy your audio guided tour of the 17th century Castle. In winter, you can visit Mozart’s residence instead.
The final highlight is a tour of the 11th-century Hohensalzburg Fortress. Included in the price is a ride on the funicular followed by an audio tour of the fortress. Great views of the old town and interesting insights into history are
guaranteed.
After eight hours of sightseeing in Salzburg, your tour ends either at your hotel in the city of Salzburg or at the train station (the return train ride to Innsbruck costs about €50 for four people).
